|ADULT LITERARY FICTION|
This story follows Arezou and Soraya, two friends who were both young children when their families fled the Iranian Revolution in 1979. Their lives take a turn from the ordinary when they each have a series of experiences that blur the line between fantasy and reality and give them an opportunity to reclaim the home they were forced to leave as children thirty years ago.
Senior year in high school is often a tumultuous time filled with confusion and doubt about the future. Roya and Hector come to learn that journeys are rarely done by oneself, and they can intersect in unexpected ways—like through the Simorgh, a mythological Phoenix-like bird from the Shahnameh.
